Amalfi Coast

“What to visit on the Amalfi Coast? Find out in this travel guide what are the most beautiful outdoor activities to experience in the unique setting of Italy’s most famous coast.”

The Amalfi Coast is a stretch which extends for 50 km of coastline in the Campania region. It overlooks the gulf of Salerno and is delimited to the west by Positano and to the east by Vietri sul Mare. It was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997 and it is loved by the whole world as a tourist destination thanks to its extraordinary natural beauty. Its name takes origin from the city of Amalfi, its geographical and historical nucleus. It is characterized by steep cliffs and a jagged coastline, dotted with small beaches and characteristic views.

The climate is generally mild all year round and summers begin in May. The average temperatures are around 16°-35° degrees. The best months to visit the coast are from April to June but in every period of the year this enchanted place gives indescribable emotions thanks to its natural beauty.

Typical products of the Amalfi Coast

The Amalfi Coast is also known for its typical products, such as limoncello, the famous liqueur with a sweet taste, born from the processing of Amalfi stew. There are many, in fact, lemon groves overlooking the sea, rich in citrus fruits of characteristic size and overwhelming smell.

Cetara, on the other hand, one of the first towns you come across along the coast, is known for its anchovies and for the processing of Colatura di alici, a tasty sauce typically used for dressing pasta.

But not only, in Vietri sul Mare, the first village of the Amalfi Coast, you can find the characteristic painted ceramics: hand-drawn, forged and decorated majolica, expression of an ancient craft that year after year is renewed.

Undoubtedly one of the most suggestive destinations to visit both by sea with the Boat tour to discover Positano and Amalfi, and by land with the Sentiero degli Dei (Gods’ Path), the uncontaminated panoramic route of natural beauty.
