The Inferno valley is one of the most exciting walks of the Somma-Vesuvio volcanic complex.
During the walk of the Inferno Valley you’ll live the majesty of Vesuvius observing from the bottom the mountain Somma and the Vesuvio.
The valley is covered by the lava of the last eruption of 1944 and is full of autochthonous flora such as the Lichen Stereocauolon vesuvianum.
In the first part of the trail you will cross the Vallone Tagliente, a steeply sloping pine forest.
Once you reach the lake dedicated to the financier Angelo Prisco, you will proceed along an easy stretch where you will be able to observe the presence of the Neapolitan Othano.
Going forward on a variable slope you’ll cross a broom and you can see the lava mouths of 1906 and 1929, and then continue on the Matrone Road panoramic along the entire length.
During the climb to the Crater the guides will show you what are the geological, naturalistic and historical features of Mount Somma-Vesuvius.
You can visit the volcanic Vesuvius building, reaching the crater rim at 1175m asl.
