What is the Ferriere Valley

Located in the heart of Amalfi, Valle delle Ferriere, also known as Valle dei Mulini is a protected natural area located in the small medieval village of Pontone (Scala), the oldest town on the Amalfi Coast. Waterfalls, gardens, vineyards and lemon groves will frame the guided hike.

HOW THE ACTIVITY TAKES PLACE

The Ferriere Valley trek begins at the point indicated on the map. It is a loop hike, starting and ending at the same place in the center of Amalfi.

Along the first part of the trail you can enjoy the view of Amalfi from a different point of view by walking through lemon groves. After about an hour’s walk you reach an intersection where you have to turn right toward the strict nature reserve. Walking along the Canneto River, you will reach the most famous place with its waterfalls and rare plants.

You will reach the ruins of the ancient paper mills, where the famous “Carta d’Amalfi” (paper made according to the medieval system) was produced. After about an hour’s walk you will arrive near the Paper Museum and reach the famous Amalfi Cathedral.
