WHAT IS SKI
Skiing is a sporting activity involving the use of skis as a means of travelling distances over snowy terrain.
Skiing did not originate as a sport, but as a means of transport in Siberia, Scandinavia and Lapland in around 2500 BC. It was not until the mid-19th century that Sondre Norheim, an inhabitant of the county of Telemark in Norway, invented the ‘Telemark‘ style, which is based on the free-heel technique that allows for steep descents and easy turns, officially decreeing skiing as a sport.
